Description

Wife of Zebedee and mother of James and John; among the women who followed Jesus from Galilee, witnessed the crucifixion, and came to anoint the body. The 'mother of the sons of Zebedee' of Matthew 20:20.

Notes

Salome of Mark 15:40 and 16:1 is widely identified with the 'mother of the sons of Zebedee' of Matthew. John 19:25 may further identify her as 'his mother's sister,' which would make James and John cousins of Jesus.
