Son of Jehoash of Israel; king of Israel 793–753 BC (long co-regency). Restored Israel's borders to Solomonic extent; era of greatest prosperity but also of the prophets Amos, Hosea, and Jonah's mission to Nineveh. Walked in the sins of Jeroboam I.
