Description
Son of Elah; killed Pekah and reigned 732–722 BC. Last king of the northern kingdom. Stopped paying tribute to Assyria and conspired with So of Egypt; Shalmaneser V besieged Samaria. The city fell in 722 BC and the population was deported. Not the same as Hoshea/Hosea the prophet.
