Prophet of Judah late 7th c. BC; questioned Yahweh about evil and was answered with the rise of Babylon as instrument of judgment. 'The just shall live by his faith' (Hab 2:4) is cited three times in the New Testament (Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38).
