Description

Younger son of Joseph and Asenath; received the greater blessing from Jacob, who crossed his hands to favor him over Manasseh. Ancestor of the most numerous and politically dominant of the northern tribes; in prophetic literature, 'Ephraim' often stands for the northern kingdom of Israel.
