Seventh from Adam through the Sethite line; 'walked with God', and after 365 years 'was not, for God took him' — the only antediluvian who did not die. Father of Methuselah. Distinct from Cain's son Enoch.

Hebrews 11:5 confirms Enoch was translated without seeing death. The Book of 1 Enoch is pseudepigraphal and not part of the protestant or catholic canon (though it is in the Ethiopian Orthodox canon).
