Description
Son of Beor; Mesopotamian seer hired by Balak king of Moab to curse Israel but compelled by Yahweh to bless them. Counseled the seduction of Israel at Baal-Peor (Numbers 31:16). Killed in the war on Midian. The New Testament cites him as paradigm of the false teacher who loved unrighteousness for hire.
