Ahithophel

Description
David's counselor of unrivaled wisdom; defected to Absalom; counseled Absalom to publicly take David's concubines and to pursue David at once. When Hushai's counter-counsel prevailed, Ahithophel went home and hanged himself. Sometimes identified as grandfather of Bathsheba (Eliam son of Ahithophel, 2 Samuel 23:34).
